Banished from his realm, he seeks out the girl from the vision, Ryleigh Donnovan, and together they embark on a journey to save his dying kingdom.
Character Guest Post: A Day in the Life of Ryleigh Donnovan
I used to think my life was difficult, but I had no clue what difficult was. My parents were killed when I was young, and my grandmother took custody of my younger sister, Mia, and me. Since she was older, she had a difficult time, so I became more of a mother to Mia than a sister. Gram held on for as long as she could, hoping to survive long enough for me to turn eighteen and take custody of Mia. Unfortunately, she lost her battle too soon.
So, at seventeen years old, I am trying to finish high school, find a full-time job to support us, and keep from losing the house that’s in foreclosure—all while taking care of my sister and trying to keep anyone from realizing I’m not old enough to be her guardian.
And if all that isn’t enough, my first job interview ends with a massive earthquake and me trying desperately to find Mia. Of course, then we ended up in the hospital. And the worst part about the hospital—they ask questions! Questions I wasn’t ready to answer.
Then a handsome stranger shows up and tells me our lives are in danger and asks me to flee with him. In hindsight, that’s the moment my life actually turned difficult—when I met Jackson Maynard.
Jackson is a warrior for the Kingdom of Cymmera. He rides dragons, keeps flying hounds as pets, and enters the human realm to kill and enslave humans. Thankfully, he stopped short of killing me like he was supposed to. But now, he’s banished from his realm, and together we must find a way to prove his innocence and save his kingdom. And I thought my life was difficult before.

Young adult and middle-grade fantasy writer Leigh Stratton is the author of the Kingdom of Cymmera series and the Ranger of the Realms series. Leigh grew up in a small town on Long Island where she spent many lazy afternoons with a good book. She would read at the beach, outside beneath a tree, anywhere she could find to curl up and lose herself in a story for a few hours. She loves reading as much now as she did back then, only now she enjoys the added pleasure of creating stories of her own.
