Thirty-nine-year-old Rosi Laruee—named Rosisophia Doroche after her mother’s beloved Golden Girls—decides that the end of her twenty-year marriage and her dad’s impending knee replacement surgery are all the excuses she needs to visit Tucson Valley Retirement Community. But the drama follows Rosi when she finds the body of local tart and business owner, Salem Mansfield. The information she discovers using her newspaper reporter sleuthing skills coupled with the clues she picks up from lackluster Police Officer Dan Daniel lead to a surprise discovery when the murderer is revealed. Along the way, she meets a cast of characters in her parents’ social circle who leave her questioning her parents’ choices in friends while simultaneously befriending many of the residents, including a handsome landscaper and a brand-new Golden Retriever puppy she names Barley. Rosi’s visit to Tucson Valley proves more than she’d bargained for, but maybe, she realizes, it’s just the kind of change she needs.

Laugh out loud with Rosi, and be prepared to get the happy feels along the way!

Character Guest Post

Hello. My name is Rosisophia Doroche Laruee, but please call me Rosi. My mom is a huge Golden Girls nut and created a smushed up name with her favorite characters: Rose, Sophia, Dorothy, and Blanche. She was quite proud of herself.

Speaking of Mom, I’m visiting my parents at the Tucson Valley Retirement Community in Arizona while Dad has knee replacement surgery. It was an easy decision to come down for a few weeks because my marriage has recently ended and I’ve lost my job after a most unfortunate poor life decision, but let’s not dwell on that. Plus, escaping snowy Illinois and soaking up some sun in Arizona in February was a no brainer.

What was supposed to be a relaxing couple of weeks of nursing my dad has turned out to be anything but relaxing. Instead, I’ve stumbled upon the mysterious death of the local bookstore owner that nobody seemed to like. And just because I was the first person to find the body, Officer Dan Daniel wants me to get my fingerprints on record. Crazy stuff.

Mom’s driving me mad trying to set me up with her friend’s visiting nephew on the pickleball court, but I’m more interested in the hot landscaper I met while walking into town. Then there’s Officer Daniel who seems to need my help more than he’d like to admit. This wasn’t the trip I imagined, but maybe it’s exactly the trip I need.
