My review of The Final Word

I completely loved The Final Word by Laura Thomas! It’s the follow-up to Captured in Frame, but it is very much a standalone book. The Final Word has you on the edge of your seat right from the start! Sophie Brooks (Georgia’s sister who is the main character in the first book) is walking on the familiar streets of her Paris neighborhood when she witnesses a woman being attacked by someone who looks very familiar. She’s rightfully frightened since the attacker looked right at her, so she calls the police and tells them about the attack…just not about who she thinks the attacker was. Since she’s moving to England that week, she figures that she’ll be safe even if it was him. 

Right before moving, Sophie completes her final task for the bakery in which she’s been working. She delivers treats to the opera and meets opera singer Miles Morgan who perfectly fits the description of the hero in the book Sophie has been writing. Of course she’d meet him the day before she’s leaving. But God works in mysterious ways, and Sophie finds that Miles will be in England soon as well. Perfect, right? But Sophie’s terrifying past follows her, and Miles has a secret that he’s been hiding. One that may change his life forever.

I loved getting to know Sophie and Miles as individuals and as a couple in a budding, love-at-first-sight relationship. Sophie’s return to faith is weaved into the story perfectly. Most of us have gone through something that has shaken our faith. We, like Sophie, may feel abandoned by God, but He isn’t the one who moves away…we are. Miles is a strong Christian man, but he also questions God as he deals with his “secret.” I could definitely relate. The Final Word helped me draw closer to God as I was reminded that He is faithful and never leaves us. 

I highly recommend The Final Word! This Christian romantic suspense has characters that leap off of the page, an idyllic English village setting, edge-of-your-seat suspense, and a strong message of faith. 5 stars!
