My Review
I adored The Pastor’s Christmas Prayer by Mindy Obenhaus! Returning to Legacy Ranch allowed me to catch up with the two characters whose books I read from the series. I missed the third book somehow. Don’t stress if you’ve not read any of the prior books in this Legacy Ranch series; it’s as completely wonderful as a standalone! This second chance romance not only entertained and charmed me; it also reminded me of the immense love that God has for us no matter how much or how long we push Him away.
Jonathon and Meredith’s story is lovely: his girls are so adorable; the youth group with its activities and generosity is inspiring; the way that Meredith can relate to one youth’s angst and issues is realistic; and the Christmas events give it the right amount of cozyness! Of all the Legacy Ranch books, I loved this one best. I think that’s due to the fact that as Christians, most of us have struggled with the same faith issues Meredith has. For so many years, she held on to her anger at God, yet she still went to church, Bible study, and participated in ministry activities. She performed and tried to outwardly still do the right things. But the hurt she experienced as a teenager ate away at her. While she was still a Christian, she didn’t have that close relationship with Christ that, once she was able to let go of the hurt she experienced, she now had. Her faith journey is inspiring!
Finally, I loved loved loved the happily-ever-after epilogue! This book brought me to tears many times, especially in the final chapters. It touched my heart and left me feeling better for having read it! I highly recommend The Pastor’s Christmas Prayer!
