Cozy Mystery
12th in Series
Setting – Virginia
Independently Published
Publication date : February 23, 2026
Print Length – 230 Pages
What begins as a blissful ladies’ spa day meant for rest and renewal turns deadly when a striking young model is found murdered in the parking lot. Amateur sleuth Stacie Maroni is the one who discovers the body, notifies the police, and studies the woman and her jewelry. A bit obsessive about things matching, Stacie wonders at the silver earring mixed with everything else gold. Litle does she know someone nearby is filming her. As rumors swirl and clues surface, Stacie notices unsettling details: two men of average build, both wearing dark wedding bands, and threats against her and Jasper—someone believes she has something worth killing for.
With a brash, womanizing FBI agent jumping to dangerous conclusions and pressure mounting from all sides, Stacie finds herself pulled deeper into a mystery she never intended to solve. As tensions rise and threats close in, she must rely on her instincts and her friends to uncover the truth before the killer strikes again or the FBI agent arrests her for the murder. In this seemingly cozy town, even with her police connections, danger lurks around every corner.
A twisty tale for cozy mystery fans.
Interview with Author Christa Nardi
Thanks for taking the time to share a bit about yourself with my readers and me!
Tell us a little about yourself. Hi, Christy. Thanks for having me today. For a little history, for many years I worked in an academic setting, and I’m a psychologist. As Christa, I work as an HR Specialist and trauma counselor. I married Ted Noth right out of college and we were getting divorced when someone killed him. While my work life is hectic, I’m still sorting out the personal side of things.
How long have you been writing? I’m not really sure, but off and on from elementary school. I don’t remember doing much writing other than term papers in college. I wrote some on and off, but nothing I ever finished. I’ve been more interested in writing over the last 20 years. Ideally, in retirement, I’ll have more time to write.
Did you always want to be an author? What made you choose the cozy mystery genre? As an academic, I’ve written predominantly technical stuff. Writing fiction is much more fun. Why choose cozy? As a reader, I’m not into thrillers and prefer less blood and gore. I resonated with the cozy mystery genre.
Do you prefer to read cozy mystery books, or do you have another favorite genre? What are you reading now? I read cozy mysteries and romantic suspense, with an occasional romance thrown in. I just finished the most recent book published by Kathleen Brooks, Forever Remembered (Forever Bluegrass #25). (need to come up with a cozy mystery I read!)
Do you have a favorite place to write? My preference is to write first thing in the morning at the kitchen table.
What’s on your desk (if you write at one!)? I don’t write at my desk and it’s very messy. I only work at my desk when I’m on zoom.
What is the first book you remember reading as a child? What was one of your favorite books you read as a child? The earliest books I remember in no particular order are The Cat in the Hat, Hobby Horse Hill, A Wrinkle in Time, all the Nancy Drews, and Little Women. I read all of Louisa May Alcott’s but particularly liked Little Men. As an adolescent, I loved both Gone With the Wind, and Rebecca (Daphne Du Maurier).
Do you like audiobooks, physical books, or e-books better? Why? I’m not a fan of “listening” without a visual (not in a classroom or a book). Physical or ebooks? I love to travel and read a lot when I travel. I have access to more books (with less weight) using my kindle. I do still read the occasional print book.
If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose? Most of my books take place on the East coast – Virginia or Maryland. I’d like a nice quiet place, not in the city, but a small town, obviously with internet to do research. I’d like quiet with lots of green space.
What or who has influenced you the most as a writer? I think my years in the academy and practicing psychology. The people I’ve interacted with merge together for good or bad, and the motivations and weaknesses help to frame my characters and their situations.
Do you have any author friends who support you while you’re writing? Do you belong to any writing groups? I tried a critique group or two early on, but most of them weren’t writing mystery. I am friends with a few other authors who I’ve met at conferences – Bouchercon and Killer Nashville, for example. I’m also “friends” with many on social media. I appreciate their support.
Finally, what are you working on now? Can you tell us a bit about it? I just finished and published Riddles, Rogues & Murder. It’s the next in the Stacie Maroni Mysteries. A ladies’ spa day took a downward turn when Stacie and her friends find a model murdered in the parking lot. Stacie is unwittingly filmed while waiting for police and suddenly targeted by someone who believes she has something worth killing for. Next up is the 12th book in the Sheridan Hendley mysteries. All I can share so far is that a young man is found dead on the college campus where Maddie (Sheridan’s step-daughter) is a freshman studying criminal justice.
Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions! Thank you again for having me as your guest.
