In Skein Sight (Clear Creek Mysteries)

by Rebecca McKinnon

In Skein Sight (Clear Creek Mysteries)
Cozy Mystery
5th in Series
Setting – Rocky Mountains –
Independently Published
Publication date ‏ : ‎ January 23, 2026

Spring has sprung in the Rocky Mountains, and Clear Creek is celebrating the arrival of the new season and increased tourism with a host of events — including a special cooking class taught by Jemma’s good friend, Chef Leandro.

When a knit-wit chef barges into Leandro’s kitchen insisting it’s now his, sparks fly between the two. It seems that everyone wants the new chef gone, but no one expects Jemma to find the man stabbed through the heart.

Leandro’s knife skills — and his argument with the dead man — make him the obvious suspect. But Jemma’s ready to cross needles with the Sheriff and anyone else who tries to place the blame on her friend.

With the killer’s eyes on Jemma from the start, she needs to weave in the ends before things unravel!

My Review of In Skein Sight

In Skein Sight by Rebecca McKinnon is the fifth book in her Clear Creek Mystery Series, but you can easily enjoy it on its own. It’s the third I’ve read, and I’ve found each of them to be charming and entertaining cozy mysteries. The series is centered around Jemma, a travel vlogger (she doesn’t do so much traveling anymore but still vlogs) who inherited (and now runs) her grandmother’s yarn shop, and like in all good cozy mystery books, she helps solve murders on the side!

Part of the charm of this series is the small Rocky Mountain town of Clear Creek. Though it’s small, it’s a popular spot for tour buses to travel, and it’s also a resort town. I love how the author has brought this town to life and makes it a place I’d want to visit. It makes me want to have a Jemma in my life to teach me how to knit!

The characters in this book are very realistic and feel like they could be your friends. Helping out a friend is how Jemma gets involved in the latest murder investigation. When so-called chef Declan arrives at the resort announcing that he’s been hired to take over, you can imagine how the current chef, Jemma’s friend Chef Leandro, felt…not happy. Of course, when Declan ends up murdered with a chef’s knife, Leandro is suspect numero uno! This makes Jemma upset with the Sheriff who is also her friend, but don’t worry. It’ll all work out! This mystery is very well-plotted with clues that will help you and red herrings that’ll throw you off of the scent!

I absolutely recommend In Skein Sight for cozy mystery lovers! Its small town vibe, cozy knitting shop, characters who feel like friends, and puzzling mystery make it a must read!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
