When you go makeup shopping, are you really satisfied with what you buy? Maybe you need a few pointers on how to find what’s right for you? Because no matter where you get your beauty products, there’s some out there that are absolutely perfect for you! It’s just a matter of finding them – when you’ve got the right makeup items in your bag, you’ll be able to pull off any look you like, because all of your products suit your skin and give you the finish you’re really looking for. Here are the most essential tips to finding the right makeup look for you.
Find the Right Makeup Products for You
Identify Your Tone
Finding the right makeup products is all about knowing your skin tone and the kind of colors that’ll work well with it. And for the majority of people, skin tone is split into four categories: fair, light, medium, and dark. Some people like to call these by the seasons, with fair skin tones usually known as ‘winter’ skin tones and deep skin tones ‘summer’, etc.
You’ll also need to determine your undertone here, and this is very simple to do. Just take a look at your arms – do you see veins under the surface? If they’re blue or purple, you’ve got a cool undertone, if green, it’s warm, and if you don’t really see anything, you’re neutral!
Now Complement This Tone
You need a bridge here; you need to know your tone, and then build upon it. So, once you’ve discovered your skin tone, and its undertone, you need to find shades of makeup that will complement this tone. You need to work with blushes and eye shadow that’ll bring out the color of your skin, and the hue of your cheeks, and make you look like you’re glowing more than ever! And once you know your color palette, it won’t be hard to find that perfect shade of lip gloss you’ve always been on the lookout for – finally! Let’s work out what colors work best for you.
Neutral Base, Color Later
It’s important to start with a neutral base, such as a natural looking foundation and concealer, and then building some color on top. But not just any color, as we’ve said! You’ll need to still work with your neutral base, and then use your skin tone to decide what’s going to really ‘pop’.
Let’s say you’ve got a medium or deep skin tone – you’ll want makeup that has warm shades to it, such as dark greens, reds, and even just sandy colors! They’ll all look amazing on your face, and they’ll work well together too. The same goes for most light skin tones, whereas fair skin tones will work well with colder shades, such as pink, blue, and white.
Finding the right makeup products for you doesn’t have to be hard. It just takes a bit of research, and we can do most of the legwork for you here. Now take these principles into the shops with you!
