Little Red Cuttlefish
Little Red jets off to take fresh crab cakes to her grandmother. Everything goes swimmingly—until a big, bad tiger shark attacks! Little Red has to use her cuttlefish defenses—camouflage, quick reflexes, and squirting an ink cloud—to outwit the shark, combining science and spunk.
Gorgeous illustrations depict the reef and its adorable main character with lively detail. The authors include information about cuttlefish and tiger sharks, addressing Common Core standards, as well as resources for further reading. This aquatically fractured fairy tale will tickle your cuttlebone and spark your curiosity. After reading, remember to sleep tight—and don’t let the copepods bite!

My Review of Little Red Cuttlefish
Do you know what a cuttlefish is? I don’t. Or I didn’t before I read Little Red Cuttlefish! A cuttlefish isn’t really a fish at all! But you will learn all about that when you read this book with your child. You can also learn about tiger sharks, oceans, and more sea life with the resources found at the end of this very colorful and entertaining book.
Little Red Cuttlefish is a little bit like Little Red Riding Hood in that Little Red is taking a basket of goodies to her grandma. She gets a little distracted along the way, but she makes it to her grandma’s without too much trouble. But when she gets there, the tiger shark wants Little Red and Grandma for snack! Thankfully Little Red uses her smarts and her skills, and she saves the day!
You and your child will really enjoy reading all about Little Red’s adventure to Grandma’s house. The illustrations are beautiful and really bring life to the story. I definitely recommend checking out the additional resources and finding out more about cuttlefish and ocean life.
