I Have People
by Taylor Dean

Premise

Missing any memories?

Holly Sinclair is happily married to the love of her life, Gabriel. Young and in love, Holly hopes to have their first child soon. Of course, Gabriel wants to wait till Holly’s health is restored, much to Holly’s dismay. She feels perfectly fine. So what if she just woke up from an eight-month coma? So what if some of her memories are missing? She remembers Gabe and that’s all that matters, right?

That is, until HE enters her life again . . . she forgot about HIM.

My Review:

I love Taylor Dean’s books. They always feel so real. The characters are realistic and her style of writing makes her books easy to fall in love with.

I Have People is a story that is both beautiful and painful at the same time. It is a story of love, abuse, and deep friendships. Parts of it are so hard to read because the abuse is so real, and Holly is so trusting. This story makes you want to reach in and take control of the situation. I wanted to shout out warnings constantly!

I’m sure we have all jumped head first into a situation without thinking much about what we were doing before we did it. Maybe it was jumping into a relationship with someone without really knowing who they were or maybe it was something as simple as eating a whole row of Oreos….you know you’ve done it! Knowing this makes it so easy to see how Holly got herself into a relationship where she did not really know the person first.

It is so easy to be in love with being in love. You get mushy feelings and want to be around the person you are in love with all of the time. You ignore any warning signs or imperfections because this is the person of your dreams! But they may end up being your nightmare. Holly is human and makes the same mistakes we all make in some way or another.

Thankfully, Holly is rescued by a deep and lasting love. A selfless and sacrificing love. Though her memories may be impaired, the rescuing love she experiences is as real as anything could ever be.

As with all of Taylor Dean’s books, I highly recommend I Have People to anyone who loves a great story! I was captivated from the start and couldn’t put this book down. It takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. One minute you’re feeling giddy with happiness and the next you’re filled with dread! It’s a great ride…take it!

The inspiration behind I Have People

“For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

My inspiration for I Have People came from a strong dislike for people who can’t control their temper. Now before you start feeling guilty for hollering at your kids this morning when they were late for school, I’m not talking about the normal irritation and anger issues many of us deal with on a daily basis.

We all feel anger and irritation at one time or another. Maybe even several times a day. Sometimes we holler at our children, sometimes we feel frustrated with our hubbies and give them the stink eye, or worse, the dreaded silent treatment. (Hubbies: When your wife says, “I’m fine,” she’s not.) Most of us will go into another room, count to ten, take a deep breath, and then go apologize. Whatever methods we use, the point is not that we get angry, it’s that we know how to control anger.

I Have People deals with ‘out-of-control’ anger. I Have People deals with rage, the kind of fury that turns people into someone we don’t know—or want to know. It is this kind of ‘out-of-control’ anger that often turns verbally or physically abusive towards the very people we love the most in this world.

It is this kind of unacceptable behavior that prompted me to write I Have People.

I wanted to announce to the world that this behavior—verbal or physical abuse—IS NOT OKAY! EVER!

And that’s all I really wanted to say.

It just took a 100,000 word novel to say it.

About the author

Taylor Dean lives in Texas and is the mother of four grown children. Upon finding herself with an empty nest, she began to write the stories that were always wandering around in her head, quickly finding that she had a passion for writing, specifically romance. Whether it’s paranormal, contemporary, or suspense-you’ll find all sub-genres of romance in her line-up.

This is a good review, and good points too on how to deal w/things better when we’re angry. It’s so easy to give hubby the stink eye, lol, but it’s not really something that causes any kind of positive for either of us.

I love reading your reviews. It is like getting the straight scoop from a knowledgeable friend. Kudos to the author for writing a compelling story to deliver what is obviously an important issue to her. I hope people who need it hear her message that “…abuse is not okay, ever.”
