I love Thor. Oh wait…you know this! Of course, I’m thrilled that I get to talk about another Thor movie this week! If you’re following along with my Marvel movies to watch before INFINITY WAR, you know we’re up to THOR: THE DARK WORLD this week. Such a sacrifice, I know.
THOR: THE DARK WORLD
If you haven’t watched THOR: THE DARK WORLD yet, go watch it now! This is another of my favorites because it’s THOR! But also because I just love Darcy. She cracks me up. I talked about her in my THOR post, but let’s just talk about how much fun she is in this movie too. Right from the start, Darcy is there interrupting Jane’s “date” pulling up a chair and stealing the scene. Then there are all the scenes with her intern whom she calls “the intern.” And she’s still calling Mjolnir “Mew Mew.” She just steals every scene she is in with her humor and timing.
The entire movie is great, and if you’re prepping for INFINITY WAR and are a Marvel lover, I’m sure you know the major plot points. What I’m trying to do in these posts is give you some of my favorite parts AND prep you for INFINITY WAR by talking about what is relevant in these movies.
THOR: THE DARK WORLD and INFINITY WAR
This picture of Thor from INFINITY WAR shows us just how much he has been through. It is heart wrenching but so insightful. I love how just one shot can express so much emotion.
In THOR: THE DARK WORLD, the aether is the thing that is most relevant to INFINITY WAR. What is aether? Aether is one of the Infinity Stones: the reality stone. It possesses the power to bend the laws of reality and physics, converting matter into dark matter, which is why Malekith was so intent upon getting it back from Jane. It can transform the entire universe during the convergence, which occurs every 5,000 years when the 9 realms are aligned. Aether is different from the other Infinity Stones in that it is fluid and always changing, though we see later that it can be in solid form. The aether is currently in the Collector’s Museum.
I love how the Marvel writers know what is planned for future movies and how they incorporate things that we now know we’ll see in INFINITY WAR. The more movies I rewatch, the more excited I’m getting! It’s so cool looking for little hints and figuring out the tie-ins.
INFINITY WAR TRAILER
This never gets old. The end, where Thor sees the Guardians, is the best! Watch it again with me, and look for the parts specific to Thor and Loki. I tear up every time. Loki’s face when he’s holding the tesseract…Thor holding something (not sure what) together….I am so stressed out lol! INFINITY WAR can’t come soon enough!
