Hillsong United: Empires Review

Entertainment

Thanks for sharing!

I was first introduced to Hillsong back in the 1990’s when someone bought my brother in law, who was in the last stages of brain cancer, the CD All Things are Possible. Darlene  Zschech was the lead singer on much of the CD and I loved it. Then I learned that Hillsong was a church and these singers were their worship leaders.  Now Hillsong has three different music ministries: Worship, United, and Young & Free.  Hillsong United has just come out with a brand new album called Empires.

Disclosure: I received the following CD free for an honest review which I’ve given. All opinions are my own and may differ from yours.

Hillsong United

HILLSONG UNITED is committed to writing songs that speak truth, create a unique sound, connect with churches, individuals and ultimately connect people everywhere with God. UNITED serve in church as a part of the wider Hillsong Worship and Creative team when they are home. When on tour, they are accompanied by the whole Hillsong team’s support and prayers that their ministry would arrest hearts and point people to Jesus, impacting individuals, local youth groups and local churches. They are also the 2015 Billboard Top Christian Artist winner.

If you listen to Christian Contemporary Music at all, you are bound to have heard songs by Hillsong United. This latest album, Empires, is one to add to your favorites! It is filled with worship-filled and uplifting songs. My favorite song on the album is Touch the Sky.  The lead on this song is Taya Smith. I absolutely love her voice!

In a recent article on Christian Post, Joel Houston was interviewed and had this to say about Empires. Empires is a message for Christians to “be building, speaking and living for the unseen aspects of God’s kingdom.”  We need to be building God’s kingdom. Through Christian music’s influence, we can show people who otherwise may not listen to our message, God’s love and grace.

I love their version of “Holy, Holy, Holy.” They do an amazing job of so many covers but also their own. Thanks for this – really hoping to win.

“No Reason to Hide” is one of their fun ones to play! But “Oceans” is my favorite to sing!
