My review of A Nanny for the Rancher’s Twins
I absolutely adored this wonderful Love Inspired book, A Nanny for the Rancher’s Twins by Heidi Main. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author, and I am looking forward to reading what she writes next! I’m not sure if this is going to be the start of a series, but I hope it is. There are many characters in the book who need a story!
In this feel good story, we meet Laney, who has recently inherited her Aunt and Uncle’s ranch after their untimely deaths. This little town, Serenity, was Laney’s safe place when she was growing up. She hopes to make her dreams of beginning a wedding venue possible. She and her aunt spent many hours envisioning it, and Laney has finally taken the first step. Unfortunately, her uncle had been leasing the land to neighboring rancher, Ethan. Though Laney and Ethan knew each other as teens, she was always the pest friend of his little sister. When you’re teens, being four years apart is a huge gap. But now they’re grown up.
When Laney arrives, she comes with a big list of maintenance she’s planning on tackling. And Ethan is at a loss for what to do with his twins since his mom and dad are unavailable to watch them for the duration of the summer. Ethan convinces Laney to exchange services with him, and after much persuading, she agrees. This is where the story begins…
I was quickly drawn into this story. Right off the bat, the author makes you feel as if the characters could be your friends and neighbors. They are extremely well-written with depth and emotion. Both Laney and Ethan have strong personalities. Laney is independent and fearful of trusting due to situations in her past. Ethan has trust issues that have been embedded in him for a long time. I loved how Ethan’s quiet time with God was helping him leave things in God’s hands.
Ethan’s twins, Zoe and Tori, are just adorable. As with the other characters, the author has written these two little girls with so much personality that you can’t help but want to give them a squeeze! They quickly work their way into Laney’s heart. The girls allow Laney into their lives, and they thrive under her care.
I love how each of the characters have unique personalities and though they might just play a small part in the book, they are very easy to get to know and care about.
A Nanny for the Rancher’s Twins has its humorous moments and its heartbreaking ones. I found myself laughing out loud and tearing up moments later. The amount of real emotion that I felt is just one reason I read the book quickly. It’s so easy to get caught up in the story. Like me, you won’t want to put it down!
Faith, fear, and trust are felt throughout this book. The characters’ struggles aren’t solved quickly, and they’re not solved without their faith in God. That message of reliance on God is one that touched me deeply.
How often we forget that no matter what we want a situation’s outcome to be, God is in control. He has our future in his hands. We can’t see the big picture. The things we have gone through make us who we are now. You may be going through a struggle right now, and you can’t see how God will make things turn out for good. Been there, done that. I was a widow at 43. I sure didn’t see how that was going to turn out for good, yet I’ve learned to trust that he knows the end of my story. He knows the end of yours too. I definitely think someone who is struggling with their faith will find it comforting to know that we all do. This book reminded me of that. I’m not alone in my struggles and moments of fear of the future, and neither are you.
I will absolutely be reading more of Heidi Main’s books! I’m excited to read what she has in store for us next. The strong, well-written characters, the beautiful setting, the lovable twins, the heartwarming story, and the inspirational message in A Nanny for the Rancher’s Twins all make this a book I highly recommend!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author.
