About the Book
Title: Frittered Moments
Series: Love and Danger in St. Claire #5
Author: Allison Pearl
Publisher: Anaiah Press, LLC
Release Date: October 23, 2023
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Deputy US Marshal, Perry Cole is back in the small town of St. Claire, and he didn’t come alone. Joined by the FBI and a witness who could crack his case wide open, Perry hopes to finally track down one of the most elusive criminals he’s ever targeted. But just as the hunt begins, a murder derails his plans. Now he must partner with the cute-but-snarky Deputy Sheriff Erin Kaminski to find the killer. Perry quickly finds himself getting distracted by the feelings Erin stirs up in him, and if he doesn’t get his head back in the game, one of them may end up at the top of the murderer’s hit list.
The locals wanted someone else for the Deputy Sheriff position, but Erin Kaminski knows in her heart that St. Claire is where she’s meant to be. And finally, just as she becomes a familiar face to the locals, the FBI and US Marshals show up, making trouble. She wants them to do their job and leave, and so she becomes their local liaison. But when someone turns up dead, she wants to be the one calling the investigative shots. Instead, she’s partnered with the admittedly charming, but overly skeptical, marshal who thinks her faith is nothing but fantasy. With Perry’s constant questions and distracting lure, she needs to keep her head clear enough to see the danger creeping her way—or she’ll end up losing everything.

Interview with Allison Pearl
Thanks for taking the time to share a bit about yourself with my readers and me!
Tell us a little about yourself.
Writing and reading makeup a large portion of my life, but outside of that, I enjoy spending time with my husband and cats. We now live in a great area for parks and have had fun finding and following the different trails. Thankfully, my husband always knows where he’s going, or I’d probably still be out wandering through them.
How long have you been writing?
I think that a part of me has always been writing—if only in my mind—but it was about ten years ago that I sat down and got out a whole novel with the intent to try and get it published.
Did you always want to be an author?
Yes, absolutely. Though as I got older and looked at the industry, I, honestly, was pretty pessimistic about my chances, which led me to choose other career paths until I decided I was ready to take the chance.
What genre of books do you prefer reading? What are you reading now?
I will read anything. Like literally anything. A glance at the mix of genres on my shelves would probably make someone wonder if I might just be a little crazy. I just finished the fantasy duology ‘One Dark Window’ and ‘Two Twisted Crowns’ and really enjoyed them.
Do you have a favorite place to write?
Not particularly. My lack of focus and tendency to procrastinate has conditioned me to learn to write just about anywhere in order to meet my deadlines.
What’s on your desk (if you write at one!)?
The usual suspects. Laptop, notebook, a thesaurus or two—or three.
Do you like audiobooks, physical books, or e-books better? Why?
I like them all for different purposes. Audiobooks are great for cleaning or when I’m driving, but eBooks make it easier to read at night. But if I’m at a coffee house with a latte, I want to feel the pages in my hands.
If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose?
My husband and I took a vacation in Boston, and I really loved it. All the history was amazing, and watching a ball game at Fenway Park lived up to the hype.
What or who has influenced you the most as a writer?
I’ve had a lot of good English and Literature teachers over the years that have instilled a love of reading and writing in me.
Do you have any author friends who support you while you’re writing? Do you belong to any writing groups?
I connect with a lot of authors online, but I don’t really know a lot of authors in my real life. I have had a lot of fun talking to family and even my nieces who’ve gotten into writing recently though.
Finally, what are you working on now? Can you tell us a bit about it?
Currently, I’m working on the start of a new cozy mystery series about the owner of a mobile bookstore. I’m really excited about it, but it’s still a work in progress.
Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions!
