When the movie set becomes a true crime scene, Carissa’s best friend becomes the star suspect. Instead of enjoying the thrills of lights, camera, and action, she’s thrust into untangling the secrets of the glamorous actors who all seem to hide something. While working behind the scenes to sniff out clues and clear her best friend’s name, Carissa must apply pressure and find the killer before someone else is written out for good.

Lemony Lavender Scones

I don’t know about you, but I love a good scone! I was very upset when a certain green-colored coffee shop stopped selling the blueberry ones! This recipe from Kim Davis sounds divine!

Lemony Lavender Scones

Makes 8

Ingredients

Scones:

2 tablespoons culinary lavender

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon lemon zest

2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cold, unsalted butter, cubed

1/3 cup fresh lemon juice

1/3 cup sour cream

1 large egg

Optional Drizzle:

1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar

3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees (F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In the bowl of a food processor, add the culinary lavender, granulated sugar, and lemon zest. Process for about 30 seconds until the lavender is well chopped.

Add in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Pulse 10 times until well mixed.

Sprinkle the cold butter cubes over the top of the flour mixture. Pulse until the butter and flour mixture resembles small peas.

In a 1-cup measuring cup, whisk together the lemon juice, sour cream, and egg. Pour over the flour mixture and pulse just until the dough begins to come together.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and knead a few times to form a cohesive dough. Pat into an 8-inch circle and cut into 8 wedges.

Place the wedges onto the parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15 to 18 minutes until lightly golden.

Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Optional drizzle:

Whisk the confectioners’ sugar and lemon juice together until smooth. Drizzle over the warm scones. Allow the drizzle to set for 10 minutes, then serve.

To store, allow the scones to cool completely and the drizzle to fully set. Place in an airtight container, in a single layer, and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
