June 4th is National Hug Your Cat Day! I love the person that came up with this day! If you’ve seen CAPTAIN MARVEL, you know all about Goose the cat. Thanks to the folks at Disney, I am celebrating the in home release of CAPTAIN MARVEL from Disney and Marvel Studios and National Hug Your Cat Day with some really fun treats for my cats and me! CAPTAIN MARVEL is on Digital now and Blu-ray June 11! I’m going to spend this Caturday with my cats and watching CAPTAIN MARVEL! I’ll probably even give them a few hugs even though it’s not their hugging day! Oh, who am I kidding? I hug them every day!

I’m going to assume that, if you’re reading this, you know all about Goose’s role in CAPTAIN MARVEL. If you didn’t watch yet, you might want to stop reading! So, one of my favorite scenes in the film is when Talos first sees Goose, and he’s so scared! Fury is in love with this cat, so he totally can’t understand why Talos would be afraid of a fluffy kitty. But, you know…Goose is a Flerken! I don’t think he meant to hurt Fury! He was just in a bad mood. Maybe.

I love this behind the scenes picture of Samuel L. Jackson holding either Reggie, Rizzo, Gonzo, or Archie (Goose was played by 4 cats because you know how cats are!) It’s just adorable!!

National Hug Your Cat Day
If you have a cat, I’m sure you understand the bond humans and cats have. If I had the money, I’d open a cat sanctuary for all of the homeless cats in the world! Yes, I know that is an impossible dream, but still, that’s what I’d do! I’d make one for dogs too but we’re talking cats today!
Here are some suggestions from National Today for what to do on National Hug Your Cat Day.
- Hug your cat: Well, yeah! While you’re hugging your cat, you should have a healthy smoothie. I just happen to have a recipe for one based on the film here!
- Volunteer at a shelter: I love this idea! Even if you can’t adopt another cat right now, you can go love on other cats for an hour or two.
- Have a kitty party: Ummm. I don’t think this is a great idea unless you’re only hosting your own cats LOL! Cats do not like other cats right away, so that might end in disaster. Instead, just buy your cats some treats and hug away!
