Where There’s A Will: A Glass Dolphin Mystery
Cozy Mystery
3rd in Series
Publisher: Superior Shores Press (November 10, 2020)

Emily Garland is getting married and looking for the perfect forever home. When the old, and some say haunted, Hadley house comes up for sale, she’s convinced it’s “the one.” The house is also perfect for reality TV star Miles Pemberton and his new series, House Haunters. Emily will fight for her dream home, but Pemberton’s pockets are deeper than Emily’s, and he’ll stretch the rules to get what he wants.

While Pemberton racks up enemies all around Lount’s Landing, Arabella Carpenter, Emily’s partner at the Glass Dolphin antiques shop, has been hired to appraise the contents of the estate, along with her ex-husband, Levon. Could the feuding beneficiaries decide there’s a conflict of interest? Could Pemberton?

Things get even more complicated when Arabella and Levon discover another will hidden inside the house, and with it, a decades-old secret. Can the property stay on the market? And if so, who will make the winning offer: Emily or Miles Pemberton?

Finding a Home in the Glass Dolphin Cozy Mystery Series: A Guest Character Post by Poppy Spencer, Realtor

I know what you’re thinking. Why is Poppy Spencer writing about Where There’s A Will, Judy Penz Sheluk’s most recent book in her Glass Dolphin cozy mystery series? After all, the main characters are Arabella Carpenter and Emily Garland, co-owners of the Glass Dolphin antiques shop. But here’s the thing. In my opinion, those two have had more than their fair share of publicity. And so, I asked Judy if she’d mind me taking on this guest post, and she agreed.

Let me start by giving you a bit of history. I made my first appearance in The Hanged Man’s Noose, the first book in the series. Not only did I find the perfect space for Arabella’s antiques shop—a converted warehouse on historic Main Street in Lount’s Landing—I was the realtor behind the sale of a deaccessioned school to Garrett Stonehaven, a developer with plans to convert it to a mega-box store. Now admittedly, things didn’t go as smoothly as I (or Stonehaven) would have hoped, what with all the backlash from the shop owners on Main. As far as the murders…surely you can’t pin the blame on me. All I did was sell a property. If I hadn’t done it, someone else would have, am I right?

In A Hole in One, the second book in the series, I spent hours showing houses to Miles Pemberton, the Pemberton on Property TV show guy, wears his hardhat like a fashion statement? Unfortunately, nothing was “suitable” to Miles or his TV network, and when he returned to Toronto, I figured that was that. Imagine my surprise when, while showing the old Hadley house to Emily Garland, I find Miles Pemberton looking at the same house with another realtor, Jay Mulacki. I’m sure you’ve heard his commercials on the radio. “Buying or selling, don’t hire any old lackey, hire Jay Mulacki and get packing.” So trite. Pemberton claimed he didn’t have a say in the matter, but I wasn’t born yesterday. Some people have no sense of loyalty, but I don’t worry about that. Karma has a way of balancing the scales. As Pemberton is about to find out.
