Reading a Cari Lynn Webb book always makes me happy, and A Cowboy to Call Her Own did just that. It kicks off another multi-author series featuring a branch of the Blackwell family. In this first book, we meet Asher Blackwell, a Bluegrass Blackwell in Gold Finch, Kentucky.

I adore the fictional small town of Gold Finch, and I’m already bonding with the side characters. This is one of those towns where families have lived for generations, and everyone knows everyone…and their business. If you miss out on any of the latest buzz, you can find out what’s going on by visiting the diner. Someone is sure to be around to fill you in.

It’s in this diner where Kelley Munroe is using her culinary expertise after her divorce. This divorce led to her leaving NYC where she had a very successful career as a chef in the restaurant she owned with her husband. Some might say her skills were wasted in a small town diner, but it’s exactly where she needs to be. And, it’s where she runs into Asher Blackwell after many years. She and Asher start the town buzzing when they’re roped into “practicing” a dance for her sister’s wedding. It’s that dance that sparks the flame that grows throughout the book.

Asher has a successful career in NYC, and this trip is meant to be temporary. He’s back home on his family’s ranch to go through the ranch’s books after getting a worrisome call from his late father’s cousin, Big E. Of course, that adorable meet-cute between Kelley and him set him on a different path.

I loved Asher and Kelley! They’re characters who discover a lot about themselves as they spend time together and in their small hometown. They find that success doesn’t always mean happiness. What brings you joy is more important than money or making a name for yourself. I loved watching them find that joy in each other and in their small town and its residents. I’m looking forward to more of the Gold Finch community.

I highly recommend this adorable, clean romance book! It has a comforting small town vibe and characters you’ll grow to love. And, of course, Kelley and Asher’s love story is the icing on the cake. If you love sweet romance books, be sure to read A Cowboy to Call Her Own!
